イディオム構文の対照研究―日英の比較相関構文の再考察―

認知言語学では、近年、意味と形式のペアとしての構文の研究が注目を浴びており （Fillmore 1988, Goldberg 1995）, その多くは結果構文や使役移動構文といった主要な構文 に対する研究である。相対的にイディオム的な構文(Croft and Cruse 2004)に関する研究は思 いのほか多くない（Fillmore et al. 1988, Kay and Fillmore 1999）上に, このようなイディオム的 構文の対照研究は十分ではなかった(cf. Croft 2001, Boas 2010)。比較相関構文(日：V/A-eba V/A hodo, 英：the comparative ～ the comparative)は、割と、広く研究されている(日： Okamoto 1993; 石居 2008, 東寺 2010, 英：フィルモア 1989; Fillmore 1989; McCawley 1988; 鍋島 2012, 日英：Iwasaki 2011) が、意見の収斂には至らなかった。さらに多くの研究 は、比較相関構文の一般の統語パターンから異なる点に注意を払っている。そこで、本 稿では、日英の比較相関構文(日：V/A-eba V/A hodo, 英：the comparative ～ the comparative)の対照研究を行い、それぞれの統合的及び意味論・語用論的な特徴を明確に し、イディオム構文としての位置づけを示す。たとえ、Croft (2001：6)は、構文の対照研究に対 して、構文は言語特有のものである主張しているものの、このようなイディオム的構文の対照研 究は、他の言語と比較してはじめて明確になる発見につながるだけではなく、異国語の教育 および習得にも貢献できると期待される。
